Working until Saturday night then going to my folk’s place to eat assorted yummies. (tamales, rompope, fresh buñuelos)
Sunday just going to drive around with the Traveling Torchbug hitting up some spots on Galveston island. The little battle bug is continuing its travels around the world. Here is a preview:

Built some cutting boards for people and a shop stool for me. Working on a case for my shop computer that runs Rasp. Pi so I can stream football/music/Youtube in the garage!
Happy Holidays non-Oppo folk!

Well, its always fun to see the kids go nuts with Christmas, but I’ll also looking forward to some skiing. I’ve been aching to go for a while now.

Saturday I’m going to make a mountain of latkes and give my kids the gifts I made them and some related books. Then we’ll go see my sis and her family on Sunday.
ETA and now I just found out I’m making a brisket and taking latkes to my sister’s.

made any cool presents for people
Well, I’m making a brake booster/ master cylinder mount for my brother’s project car. So... something that isn’t all that cool except for how it might help him Not Die. I’ll be making some bourbon egg nog probably around Monday, but that’s not necessarily a gift unless I make a lot.

My family is skipping the big get together on my fathers side so I’m getting a nice old fashioned quiet Christmas break. After this week I’ll need it...

Making things that help people not die is pretty cool.

Vehicle is one of these. From factory it has no power assist on the brakes (bad for >3000lb) and a single brake line system (which means a single leak = NO BRAKES AAAHHH).
On top of that we’re adding more power and making it faster, so better brakes are a Good Thing.

I bought a present for my mom that I think she’ll be excited about. It’s small, as I couldn’t afford much, but it’s something she’d looked at/considered buying for herself, so I think she’ll be surprised.
Otherwise, I’m looking forward to cooking! Haven’t decided what to make for Christmas yet, but there’s definitely going to be some comfort food on the menu.

My Pilot keeps needing more attention. I’m thinking that 190k miles is probably a good place to start thinking of a new car.

I will commence my holiday festivities as soon as my students let out at 3:00 and I’m at the bar by 3:08.

I did remember that I am excited to give my daughter her replacement “adventure kit”. I made her and her sister “tool rolls” of heavy canvas with pockets for things like their national parks passports, magnifying glass, headlamps and such, and my oldest daughter lost hers with her backpack in Yellowstone this summer.
I made her a replacement but wasn’t planning on giving to her for Christmas (since its just a replacement) but I guess she’s been telling my wife she just REALLY wants another adventure kit for Christmas (she doesn’t know I’ve been making her a replacement) because she misses hers. so I guess its a Christmas present now.
I’m happy with the sewing this time, but the stencil didn’t work so well

I need to actually implement this, but I’m wrapping all my presents with a “brown paper packages tied up with string” theme. So I got butcher paper and twine, but also some fake christmas berries and pine boughs and stamps and washi tape and I’m doing them all with this like, rustic forest christmas theme. I have all the brown paper done, now I just need to fun it up a bit, but even just the pile of brown paper packages looks so classy and nice right now.

I had to get a tooth filling replaced today which means I can’t really eat solid foods for about 24 hours, gonna try eating chicken on the other side of my mouth though.
So I was eating some peanut butter, Reese’s to be precise, imported from America (I live in the UK) and my American next door neighbour just so happens to knock to give us some presents.
I told her how I was eating peanut butter because of my filling and asked if she wanted some since it’s from America, and it reminded her that she had forgotten to get her Skippy’s peanut butter which she normally gets every Christmas! I think Skippy’s is also imported so not something you can just walk down the road to get.
So, I decided to let her have the jar of Reese’s as a little gift and she said how the angels were with her today. What a funny turn of events, all in the space of about 10 minutes.

Every Christmas Eve (this is the 9th year), I go to my inlaws’ family gathering. It is full of Western New Yorkers and so I get my fill of italian sausage, buffalo chicken dip, anchovy pizza, and random desserts. I always eat too much food.

It says “celebrate holidays”, so I was thinking you could pick whichever one you want. I think we should have some Arbor Day up in here, to make up for all the farm trees that just got chopped down in the name of god.

And a chocolate rum cake. Maybe I should just tell her I’ll bring everything. Lol. Her dog had surgery, she has a lot of work, her assistant is on a cruise and I’m pretty sure her husband is swamped at work too. I’d bring my niece home with me but she has too many activities and there’s no way I could schlep her to activities two hours away.

We used brown paper, twine and custom stickers we made. (And a glue stick)
(One of the kids’ gifts)

OMG! There’s a wand in that stack of HP goodies, too. Paint me jealous.

That sounds delicious in a most fattening way. I’d be the person dipping the Italian sausage in the buffalo dip and wrapping that up in the anchovy pizza, because that’s how I roll.

The kids’ main gift is a trip to Universal Orlando. :)
When I was there in August I found out everyone’s favorite witch or wizard and got them interactive wands.

That butter beer is damn good. I tried to recreate the recipe at home. Wasn’t nearly as tasty.

Universal Orlando is much bigger than Universal in California. We only have one HP area. :( And no Hogwarts Express to ride on, either.

Awe. Yeah. It’s spread out between two parks in Florida. Haven’t been to universal in California in decades.

I got a great deal on a digital SLR camera at a pawn shop because it was missing a battery and charger (Canon Rebel T3) and so I bought a bunch of accessories for it too (yes, including a double battery charger with two batteries). My wife has wanted a digital SLR for years but buying one new has always been out of our price range. She’s going to absolutely love it.

Got small gifts for my sisters and I’ll be paying them back since they did shopping for other family members. I also put together a photo album for my girlfriend to surprise her with when she flies into town on Boxing Day.
